Restorative Dentistry
Everyone deserves a bright, confident smile, and to have a mouth that is comfortable. More teeth are lost through gum disease than decay these days. Our hygienist will advise you on maintaining your mouth at home, and will scale and polish your teeth using the latest piezon super stain removing treatment. This removes stubborn plaque and leaves the teeth smooth. Some patients may have more advanced problems with their gums, needing deeper cleaning and antibiotic therapies to treat difficult areas. We may need to carry out localised surgery to remove deeper disease and help you to clean specific areas more easily and effectively.
Decayed or broken teeth may be restored with white mercury-free fillings to restore function and eliminate disease. Weak, crooked, discoloured or misaligned teeth may be restored with a crown (or a 'cap') or a veneer (a thin layer of porcelain that requires very little preparation of the tooth).
Badly broken or dead teeth may require a root filling to preserve the root healthy in the jaw, before the tooth can be restored. It's no fun to have missing teeth. You may feel uncomfortable about speaking and smiling, and your other teeth may start to move into the space, compromising the stability of your bite. Missing teeth may be replaced, with a fixed bridge, removable denture or implants, to restore function and appearance and prevent movement of other teeth, which could unbalance the bite, causing jaw and muscle pain and migraines.
